Somatic Cell Count

For several years now, the use of allicin boluses has been gaining ground in dairy farming. These boluses are commonly referred to as “garlic boluses”. They are used primarily to support treatment of acute and subclinical mastitis.

This alternative treatment strategy has been developed and promoted particularly in countries with industrial dairy farming within the EU, where the massive use of antibiotics is standard practice.

A range of products of varying quality is now on the market. This means that farmers are faced with the challenge of identifying a product that is highly effective.

We tested products from several suppliers and were able to determine an impressive effect with the Allimax NF Bolus.

The efficiency of the Allimax NF Bolus

The reason for the efficiency of the Allimax NF Bolus lies in the specific technology of the enzymatic processing of alliin (a sulfur-containing amino acid found in high concentrations in garlic cloves).

The resulting bioactive agent is allicin, which is absorbed in high concentrations from the gastrointestinal tract into the bloodstream of the cow in the Allicillin NF bolus. Understandably, only the active ingredient circulating in the bloodstream can have an immune-boosting effect.

Allicillin is excreted from the blood mainly through the lungs and thus through the air we breathe. The extraordinarily intense garlic odor of the cow's breath, compared to other products, impressively demonstrates the concentration of the active ingredient in the bloodstream.

Find out more about Allimax

Allimax is a feed supplement for animals and is available as bolus for cattle, calves, sheep and a variety of other animals.

Allimax was developed by Allicin Animal Care International (AACI), based in Vaassen, the Netherlands.

Allicin Animal Care International has made a major contribution to reducing the use of antibiotics in livestock in recent years. The development of Allimax is not a homeopathic or “alternative therapy”, but the result of proper scientific research, which has been validated by several universities.
