PECTOSAN is an anti-diarrhea
feed supplement for calves and lambs.

• About 50% of calves (dairy cattle) suffer from diarrhea at least once.
• Main cause: 40% of calves with one week have an antibody level that is too low (less than 800mg / dl- IgG)
• The mortality rate of calves born alive up to weaning is 6-12%. The main cause is diarrhea.

Main pathogens:

• Bacteria: E. coli, Salmonella, Campylobacter, Clostridium perfingens,

Management:

• Administering high-quality colostrum (4–6 liters) within 6–8 hours
• Clean, dry calf pens, light, air, no overcrowding, same-age groups, etc. = STRESS
• If causes can be diagnosed: specific treatment (e.g. for E. coli infection)

The actual cause of death of calves with diarrhea:

• dehydration and starvation!
